Former Coyotes left winger John Scott will play in the NHL All-Star Game as an independent, but the NHL really didn't want that to happen.
Scott, the seldom-scoring enforcer, was voted in through the fan vote, and he was traded to the Canadiens (subsequently demoted to the AHL) days after the announcement.
The Scott campaign started out as an Internet joke, but it had a real impact on Scott's life. His wife, Danielle, is pregnant with twins. And although the Coyotes claimed they made the move to improve the hockey team, the timing was beyond suspicious.
The NHL tried to get Scott out of the All-Star Game, and according to Scott, the league mentioned his children as a tool for guilt.
