Fittingly, the puck came toward Arizona Coyotes goaltender Karel Vejmelka as the final horn sounded at Canada Life Centre, and fittingly, it bounced away harmlessly without finding the back of the net.
Vejmelka stopped everything the Winnipeg Jets sent his way, posting a season and career high of 46 saves in his first ever NHL shutout, and the Coyotes edged the Jets 1-0 Monday night.
"Thank God we had 'Veggie,'" Coyotes head coach André Tourigny said. "Honestly tonight, I think it's payback time for some games earlier in the season where we played really well and we could not find a way to win.
