Hanzal shines in return as Coyotes edge Avalanche

When he was accumulating assists at an eye-popping pace to start the season – seven in his first four games – Coyotes center Martin Hanzal was quick to point out the fact he had yet to tally a goal.

The schedule has finally flipped to November and Hanzal still hasn’t scored, but the zero next to his name no longer seems to bother him.

That’s because he continues to grow that other offensive number.

Hanzal moved into a tie for most assists in the NHL with 12 after setting up two, and defenseman Nicklas Grossmann had the first two-goal performance of his career to boost the Coyotes to a 4-2 win over the Avalanche in front of 10,270 at Gila River Arena in Glendale after a five-day break for the team.
