The Coyotes have been idle for more than a month, but the offseason is only officially getting started for the handful of players that represented their countries in the IIHF World Championship which wrapped on Sunday in the Czech Republic.
Goalie Mike Smith and Team Canada grabbed gold in the finale with a 6-1 win over Russia, Canada's first title since 2007. The medal was the second for Smith in the last 15 months as Smith was the third goaltender on the Canadian team that also won gold at the Winter Olympics in 2014.
Smith collected 11 saves in the gold-medal final, the lone goal-against snapping a shutout streak of 190:03.
