Camped out at the left point, Coyotes defenseman Kyle Capobianco took a pass from Vinnie Hinostroza, who posted up on the half-wall, stick cocked for a one-timer. Hinostroza, however, didn’t get the return pass.
Capobianco, playing in just his sixth career NHL game, saw an open lane to the net and unleashed a wrist shot in the direction of Ottawa Senators goaltender Craig Anderson. The shot, which glanced off the stick of a Senators player and into the net, ended up as Capobianco’s first career NHL goal.
“It’s a special day,” said Capobianco, who joked that his parents might use the retrieved puck as a coaster back home.
