Darcy Kuemper is showing Coyotes what they want to see in their backup goaltender

Darcy Kuemper stumbled over the word, as if finally coming to terms with the fact that he is comfortable in his new home, when asked to describe the reason for his early-season success.

“Fah-mil-ee-air-it-ee,” he sounded out.

And Kuemper certainly looks as if he’s found some familiarity as the Coyotes’ backup goaltender, posting a 2-1 record to go along with a 1.34 goals-against average and a .957 save percentage in three games so far this season.

Kuemper, who was acquired by the Coyotes at last season’s trade deadline, has been thrust into duty with No. 1 goaltender Antti Raanta out with an illness.
