Defenseman Klas Dahlbeck has been claimed off waivers by the Hurricanes, subtracting one player from the Coyotes' current logjam, but more moves will have to be made to get to the 23-man roster limit by today's 2 p.m. deadline.
After losing Dahlbeck to the Hurricanes, the Coyotes are carrying 26 players. Defenseman Zbynek Michalek cleared waivers, but it's unclear if he will be assigned to the American Hockey League or remain with the Coyotes.
Since defenseman Jarred Tinordi doesn't count against the limit while serving the remaining four games on a suspension he received last season for violating the terms of the NHL/NHLPA Performance Enhancing Substances Program, the Coyotes have to make only two more cuts to get to 23.
