Coyotes try to fix slow starts during slump

OTTAWA – If the Coyotes could reassemble the current order of a game, disconnecting the periods like puzzle pieces to try a new design, they might choose to lead with their effort in the second period or perhaps the third.

Through two weeks of games, Arizona has certainly showed the ability to improve as the action ages – even rallying in the final minute Tuesday against the Devils to bank their lone point so far on a five-game road trip that continues Saturday against the Senators.

But even amid other culprits, poor starts have headlined their struggles during a four-game winless skid.
