The action on the ice is too swift, too demanding, to let the mind drift anywhere but the puck and the sticks clamoring after it, but on the bench, between shifts, that's when the Rolodex of knowledge comes in handy.
During those brief pauses, Coyotes center Dylan Strome can analyze his opponent and tap into all those statistics and tendencies he's stored up and figure out how to capitalize on his next opportunity.
"Everyone watches the game with a different perspective," he said Tuesday after the first on-ice session of the Coyotes' annual prospect development camp at the Ice Den in Scottsdale.
