The beginning of a new calendar year and the schedule’s official halfway point generally intersect around the same point. For many teams that have underachieved early in the season, such as the Coyotes, that transition serves as an opportunity to change fortune.
It was certainly a strategy the Coyotes employed last season after a disastrous start. After not earning two points in a game until the end of October and not winning a game in regulation for another two weeks, the Coyotes rebounded after Jan. 1 and began wreaking havoc on the league from February onward.
This season, with several key injuries continuing to pile up on an already-underperforming roster, the Coyotes have an opportunity to do something similar.
