The Coyotes clearly have been evaluating their free agents-to-be and are rewarding those they want to retain beyond this season with multi-year contracts.
Forward and fighting specialist Liam O'Brien was the latest Coyote to re-up with the team, as the club on Sunday announced a two-year contract extension for the Nova Scotia native who leads the NHL in penalty minutes with 106.
This despite playing only 37 of the Coyotes' 55 games, and currently being out with an upper-body injury that has forced him out of the past three games. O'Brien is listed as week to week with the injury.
