Clayton Keller finished third overall in voting for the Calder Trophy, awarded annually to the league's top rookie, at the NHL Awards on Wednesday in Las Vegas.
New York Islanders center Mathew Barzal won the award after leading all rookies in goals, assists and points. Vancouver Canucks winger Brock Boeser finished second.
Keller, who was the first player to be nominated for the award in Coyotes history, led the club in both goals (23) and points (65) in his rookie season. He was twice named the league's rookie of the month and finished second in both points and assists among all first-year skaters.
