Coyotes re-sign defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin to contract for next season

The Arizona Coyotes have a lengthy list of players who can become unrestricted and restricted free agents after this season. Ilya Lyubushkin is no longer on that list.

The team announced the defenseman has signed a one-year contract, confirmed by the club to be worth $1.35 million, on Monday prior to the Coyotes' home game against the Minnesota Wild.

Lyubushkin, of Moscow, has been with the organization since he signed in May of 2018, after four seasons playing in Russia's top hockey league. He was on a one-year deal this season that was extended.

“We are very pleased to sign Ilya to an extension,” Coyotes General Manager Bill Armstrong said in a team statement.
