With each name called in the NHL Draft, Kelsey Koelzer and Kori Cheverie would get butterflies.
Not only was the night special for the players involved, but the two coaches would soon find out which players they would be shaping when they landed in Arizona. It was a beautiful reminder that neither would be watching from afar for much longer.
“I’ve been involved in NHL drafts with other organizations in the past, but more from a scouting standpoint, you know in that sense you’re not going to interact with the players. There was butterflies in my stomach when I watching not only because I was excited for those players and having that opportunity and getting to relish in that moment, but knowing that these players are who we will get to interact with in a short amount of time.
