After tearing up the ice in Tucson, forward prospect Nick Merkley will get a chance to show what he can do with the Coyotes in his NHL debut against the Panthers on Tuesday at Gila River Arena.
Merkley, 20, has tallied 12 goals and 24 points with the Coyotes’ AHL affiliate this season and led all rookies in the league in scoring at the time of his recall on Sunday. Now, he’ll try to translate that production to the NHL.
“Yeah, we’re going to throw him in (Tuesday) and see what he’s got,” Coyotes head coach Rick Tocchet said.
