Coyotes make first round of roster cuts at training camp

Ordinarily, the idea of making roster cuts is accompanied by the unsettling conversation with those players being sent to minor-league camp or back to their juniors teams. But that’s not the way Coyotes head coach Rick Tocchet sees it.

With an organization as brimming with youth as the Coyotes, everything can be interpreted as a teaching moment and experience gained, and that’s exactly how Tocchet handled the first round of training camp cuts.

The Coyotes trimmed 14 players from their camp roster on Wednesday, leaving them with 49 players with four preseason games remaining before the team’s regular-season opener on Oct.
