Picking up a different style of play hasn’t been the only adjustment the Coyotes have had to make under new coach Rick Tocchet.
They’ve also learned a new vocabulary.
“I think everybody’s getting used to it and figuring everything out,” winger Jordan Martinook said.
Tocchet has mentioned being “sticky,” going “surfing” and finding the “good ice” – unfamiliar terms that describe normal on-ice actions. And although players weren’t handed a dictionary on Day 1 of training camp, they’ve gotten up to speed on Tocchet’s terminology.
“It’s different words that we haven’t heard before, but we still understand,” winger Anthony Duclair said.
