The void left by injured defenseman Jason Demers has grown so large that it would not be surprising to walk into the Coyotes locker room after a game and hear them playing Cinderella’s 1988 ballad “Don’t Know What You Got (Till It’s Gone)” over the loudspeakers.
Not only does the song fit the penchant of Coyotes assistant equipment manager Denver Wilson, who has been known to take charge of post-game music, but it perfectly sums up the team’s feelings on the absence of one of the most under-appreciated players on the Coyotes roster.
On paper, Demers plays an important role as Oliver Ekman-Larsson’s on-ice partner, but Demers is often regarded as the afterthought of the pair.
