If the Coyotes thought that trading away John Scott would end their headache when it comes to his All-Star Game participation – and general manager Don Maloney insists that played no part in their calculus – they were sorely wrong.
On Tuesday it was announced that Scott will indeed captain the Pacific Division team, despite his being traded to the Montreal Canadiens and subsequent assignment to the team’s American Hockey League affiliate.
The move left Arizona without the All-Star representative that each team is guaranteed and the job of answering more questions about it.
“That’s disappointing not to be represented,” head coach Dave Tippett said.
