Coach Rick Tocchet said he was "unimpressed" with the Coyotes first scrimmage about a week ago, which saw the red team outlast the white team, 3-1, over 20 minutes of play.
Wednesday, the Coyotes split for their second scrimmage of camp, in which new elements were added, including TV timeouts, music during warm-ups and three 11-minute periods.
The modifications and training prior to the scrimmage may have proved beneficial, as Tocchet upgraded his review of the latest scrimmage.
"If I had to pick how I thought the scrimmage was on a meter it would be halfway between average and good," Tocchet said.
