Many times this season, the Coyotes wilted once an opponent took a lead. Thursday's visitor to Gila River Arena, the Columbus Blue Jackets, did it twice, rallying from two deficits to grab one-goal leads.
But this time, the Coyotes did not fold. They evened the score each time, including with 5:42 to play in the game on Jakob Chychrun's goal, and earned an overtime point in a 5-4 loss.
Ryan Dzingel, Phil Kessel and Lawson Crouse also scored for the Coyotes, Scott Wedgewood stopped 42 shots and five more in overtime, but could not keep out Yehor Chinakhov's try in the seventh round of the shootout.
