Despite the praise it was meriting in-house leading up to the season, a reconfigured center ice couldn’t match the hype surrounding the youth being led onto the roster by the Coyotes.
That remained the case during the first few weeks of NHL action as wingers Max Domi, Anthony Duclair and Jordan Martinook and defenseman Klas Dahlbeck have all had turns in the spotlight.
But as the Coyotes limped to the conclusion of their five-game odyssey on the East Coast, reaching the 10-game mark at 5-4-1, the value of their centers was hard to ignore.
“I think we’re all veteran guys and have played a lot of games,” center Brad Richardson said.
