The Coyotes are still working to complete their plan to move their American Hockey League affiliate to Tucson, a proposal that could receive approval from the AHL Board of Governors soon, and the potential to have the minor-league squad only a two-hour drive away is exciting for coach Dave Tippett.
“To have them so close where you can keep track of each other, you watch each other’s games every night, it’s a benefit that with our team on the East Coast we haven’t had,” Tippett said.
Last month, the Coyotes signed an agreement to purchase the Springfield Falcons, their current AHL affiliate, with the understanding the transaction is contingent upon AHL Board of Governors approval, finalizing closing conditions and reaching an arena lease agreement.
