There’s something about the third period that ignites the Arizona Coyotes at Mullett Arena.
Within the last two games, the Coyotes have rallied from two-goal deficits and challenged opponents. But unlike Sunday’s matinee against the Colorado Avalanche that went into a shootout, the Edmonton Oilers closed out the game in regulation to hand the Coyotes a 5-4 loss on Monday.
Matias Maccelli and Barrett Hayton each scored twice in the game to lead the Coyotes offense. Clayton Keller assisted on Hayton’s second goal during the third period to extend his point streak to 13 games.
“The last two games here, that fight in the third period has been really good in being able to tie the game,” Hayton said.
