Clayton Keller has accomplished several personal milestones in his seven-year career, but earning a hat trick eluded him.
His milestone came forth in a big way when Keller broke his goal-scoring slump and netted the third and final goal to win 5-4 in overtime against the Philadelphia Flyers Sunday at Mullett Arena.
The back-and-forth affair was sent into overtime when the Flyers took a gamble and pulled goaltender Carter Hart with 2:40 left to play. The move worked when Travis Konecny sent a loose puck into the net at 17:43.
“We give a lot of credit to the Flyers, they came, they worked hard, they battled, they were physical,” Coyotes head coach André Tourigny said.
