If the NHL truly cared about fans, it would say this:
“John Scott’s position in the upcoming All-Star Game is secure. Because fans voted him in, he deserve that spot.”
But it hasn’t, making a mockery out of an event that is the closest thing fans have to wielding some well-intentioned power at the professional level.
And it stinks.
The journeyman enforcer was recalled Friday from Springfield of the American Hockey League and traded from the Coyotes to Montreal in a three-team deal, putting his spot in the Jan. 31 game, in which fans voted him a captain, in jeopardy.
