The Coyotes acquired Nick Schmaltz from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Dylan Strome and Brendan Perlini on Sunday.
No salary was retained on either end of the trade, sources told The Republic. The Coyotes announced the trade Sunday night.
Strome and Perlini are both former first-round picks by the Coyotes. Strome was selected third overall in the 2015 draft, and Perlini was selected 14th overall in 2014.
Strome, 21, is in his first full NHL season and had been in and out of the Coyotes lineup prior to the trade. He had tallied just three goals and three assists while accruing a minus-9 rating this season.
