Gabe Vilardi's goal in the overtime shootout sent the Los Angeles Kings to a 3-2 win over the Arizona Coyotes Thursday night at Gila River Arena.
The Coyotes rallied from a two-goal deficit after one period of play. But they couldn't come up with another goal after the second period until the shootout, when Nick Schmaltz and Christian Dvorak scored but goalie Darcy Kuemper couldn't keep three Kings from finding the net.
Anze Kopitar, Adrian Kempe and finally Vilardi, after Clayton Keller shot wide, scored shootout goals for the Kings (6-6-3). Kuemper had 27 saves as the Coyotes fell to 1-2 in shootouts.
