Oliver Ekman-Larsson is entering the next chapter of his career.
Team officials confirmed Thursday that Ekman-Larsson, the longest-tenured player in the organization, will serve as captain for the 2018-19 season.
The Coyotes did not have a captain last season in Rick Tocchet's first season with the Coyotes.
They used Ekman-Larsson, Derek Stepan, Alex Goligoski, Brad Richardson and Niklas Hjalmarsson as assistant captains.
