Here is a first-quarter report card for each of the the Coyotes' respective units and marquee players.
Forwards: B-
The Coyotes have been able to get enough production from deep in the lineup to offset a lack of production from Phil Kessel, Clayton Keller and others. Nick Schmaltz has been fantastic. Conor Garland continues to be a scoring machine. Carl Soderberg has come exactly as advertised. The Coyotes can easily turn this into an A+ grade if Kessel and Keller start to produce closer to expectations, which is fair to assume given their positive possession trends evidenced by advanced statistics.
