As matchups with opposing teams go, the Colorado Avalanche are a difficult one for the Arizona Coyotes.
The Avalanche proved that in the postseason last year and have done so in this year's regular season, improving to 4-1 against the Coyotes this season with Monday's 5-1 win at Gila River Arena.
The Coyotes (13-14-5) lost for the sixth time in seven games, barely avoiding being shut out for the third time in six games and two days after ending a five-game losing streak. Antti Raanta stopped 30 shots and did all he could to keep the game from being even more lopsided.
