Arizona Coyotes don't trade Radim Vrbata, Shane Doan before deadline

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Coyotes didn't make any more subtractions from their NHL roster before Wednesday's 1 p.m. Arizona-time trade deadline, keeping winger Radim Vrbata and captain Shane Doan.

Both players are set to become unrestricted free agents after this season.

Vrbata seemed to be the most likely to be moved, a goal scorer who could have boosted a team battling for a playoff spot or one primed to make a run. But General Manager John Chayka said unless the team received "a great offer," the plan was to keep him.

"We were looking around to see if we could maximize our return like any player we have," he said.
