The Coyotes claimed center Alexander Burmistrov off waivers Monday from the Jets.
"We are pleased to acquire Alexander through the waiver process," General Manager John Chayka said in a statement released by the team. "He's someone our scouts identified as having greater potential than he has currently shown. We're hopeful a change will help his game."
Burmistrov has two assists in 23 games this season. He was a healthy scratch the past 10 games.
In 298 career games, Burmistrov has tallied 30 goals and 81 points. He posted career-highs in goals (13), assists (15) and points (28) during the 2011-2 season with the Jets.
