Coyotes center Brad Richardson suffered a broken tibia and fibula in Thursday's game against the Canucks and is undergoing surgery Friday, according to a report from TSN's Bob McKenzie.
A league source confirmed the report but the team did not, saying Richardson is currently stabilized at the hospital and the plan of care is still being discussed.
Richardson was injured in the second period of Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss after going down awkwardly on his right leg following a hit from the Canucks' Nikita Tryamkin. He was crumpled on the ice before training staffs from both the Coyotes and Canucks and medical personnel attended to him.
