In position to be sellers, the Coyotes made their first move Monday – more than a week before the NHL trade deadline hits – by agreeing on a deal that will send defenseman Michael Stone to the Flames in exchange for a third-round pick and a conditional fifth-round pick in 2018.
The deal was first reported by TSN's Bob McKenzie.
Stone, 26, is in the final year of a one-year, $4 million contract and is poised to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
Through 45 games this season, Stone has one goal and nine assists – his first season back after suffering a knee injury last March that required surgery to fix his left ACL and MCL in April.
