The safety market in 2018 was pretty much the worst possible scenario for a number of free agents.
It made things tough on the Arizona Cardinals, who cut Tyrann Mathieu because he didn’t want a reduction in pay, then it lead to an “insulting offer” from the Cardinals to Tre Boston early in the process.
Low and behold, Boston ended up in Arizona despite the insulting offer, simply because of the flat market for safeties.
Now, with the market already changing with the signing of Eric Reid, the safety market should see an influx of pay.
