Cardinals defensive tackle Calais Campbell has hired a new agent, which could be the first step toward a contract extension that would lower Campbell’s salary cap figure.
Campbell hired Tom Condon, according to the NFL Players Union web site. Condon replaces Ben Dogra, who was suspended and fined by the union in January.
Dogra is appealing and can still negotiate contracts. But Campbell recently told the team’s website, azcardinals.com, that it made sense to make the change.
Condon and Cardinals General Manager Steve Keim likely will be spending a lot of time talking over the next few months.
