One day soon, perhaps as early as next week, linebacker Daryl Washington and his employers, the Cardinals, will have a meeting in which this question will not be only an icebreaker: “So Daryl, what have you been up to?”
The Cardinals really want to know what Washington has been up to. NFL rules have prevented them from talking to Washington since he was suspended indefinitely in May 2014, and the team presumably would like to determine Washington’s physical – and mental – condition before making a final decision on his future.
At least that’s the presumption since the Cardinals didn’t release Washington the minute after the NFL conditionally reinstated him on Tuesday.
