A year ago, Cardinals inside linebackers coach Larry Foote wasn’t optimistic about Scooby Wright’s chances of making it in the NFL.
It wasn’t Wright’s slow time in the 40-yard dash that scared off Foote. It was that Wright seemed to be used mostly as a pass rusher at the University of Arizona, and to Foote, seemed too stiff in the hips to do everything required of an inside linebacker in the NFL.
Foote’s opinion changed shortly after the Cardinals signed Wright off the Browns practice squad last Dec. 13.
“At the end of year, I told him, ‘Man, I read you wrong,’ ” Foote said.
