Two days after being released to clear money under the salary cap, cornerback Robert Alford is re-signing with the Cardinals on a one-year contract, according to a report by NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.
Alford, 32, has missed each of the past two seasons since signing a three-year deal with the team in 2019. He suffered a broken leg during training camp his first year in Arizona and then tore a pectoral muscle early in camp last year.
On Wednesday, he was released in a cost-cutting move to clear $7.5 million in cap space. His original contract had a cap hit of $9 million with $1.
