The Cardinals are releasing inside linebacker Scooby Wright, according to the NFL Network.
It would not be surprising if the Cardinals tried to bring Wright back later this weekend, perhaps to the practice squad.
He joined the team in December last season and played well on special teams.
Wright impressed coaches this spring. He was working with the second team, behind Karlos Dansby and Haason Reddick, and was expected to contribute on special teams this fall, if he could make the team.
Wright (6-0, 240) was selected in the seventh round (250th overall) of the 2016 draft by the Browns and spent the majority of that season on Cleveland’s practice squad after being inactive for the first two games of the season.
