The Cardinals’ failure to capitalize on trips to the red zone doomed them in a 20-15 loss to the Washington Redskins on Sunday at FedEx Field in Landover, Md.
The loss eliminates the Cardinals (6-8) from playoff contention.
The Arizona offense dominated time of possession but maintained an inability to find the end zone, leaning on kicker Phil Dawson for the entirety of its 12 points in the game. Dawson has scored the team’s last 27 points dating back to the second quarter on Dec. 3 against the Rams.
Although the Redskins’ offense struggled with stringing together drives, they were still able to find the end zone and find themselves in the lead by the end of the game.
