On Wednesday, two days after news broke of Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson asking for a trade, Peterson broke his silence with an 80-word statement that didn’t deny he had asked for a trade.
Peterson admitted to being “incredibly frustrated” with the Cardinals 1-6 season and promised to continue to give his all to the organization this season and for years to come.
Missing in those 80 words was one simple sentence. “I did not ask for a trade.”
So the damage has been done, not so much to the Cardinals, but to Peterson’s reputation, which had been beyond reproach.
