Opinion: Zero Black coaches hired so far? NFL is all talk on diversity -- time for action

It seemed like the NFL understood when Commissioner Roger Goodell said last year that “without Black players, there would be no National Football League, and the protests around the country are emblematic of the centuries of silence, inequality and oppression of Black players, coaches, fans and staff.”

But based on the number of Black head coaches hired this offseason — zero — it’s clear they don’t get it. Six jobs have been filled, and there’s only one vacancy left (Houston).
