Conversations regarding a contract extension for Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu are continuing, but they haven’t started yet with defensive tackle Calais Campbell, according to the agent for both players, Tom Condon.
A deal for either player is not imminent, Condon wrote via text message.
Cardinals General Manager Steve Keim has said several times this offseason that re-signing Mathieu this year is a priority and that the team would like to keep Campbell beyond this season.
There is no rush to get either deal done, and for different reasons both negotiations are challenging.
Mathieu, who has a year left on his contract, underwent surgery in December to repair a torn ACL.
