Cardinals coach Steve Wilks and Mike McCoy were acquaintances, nothing more, before McCoy came to town last week to interview for the offensive coordinator’s job.
It wasn’t long before both realized they shared a lack of vision for what the offense might look like in 2018. Right now, that side of the ball is a piece of clay, so hiring a coordinator willing to adapt his system to players was a priority to Wilks.
“I think it’s important that you have a coach who understands the vast range of players he may have to coach,” Wilks said.
