The Cardinals got together to pick team captains this week and the voting was so close, coach Kliff Kingsbury determined they would go with eight captains this season rather than the typical six.
On offense, the captains are wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, quarterback Kyler Murray and left tackle D.J. Humphries.
On defense, they are nose tackle Corey Peters, outside linebacker Chandler Jones, cornerback Patrick Peterson and inside linebacker Jordan Hicks.
And on special teams, the pick was Dennis Gardeck, back for his third season after making the club as an undrafted rookie free agent.
Gardeck’s inclusion was particularly enjoying for the players, Kingsbury said, just because of his rags-to-riches story.
