It is official. The Arizona Cardinals have added veteran tight end Jermaine Gresham, announcing they had agreed to teams with him on a one-year contract.
Despite head coach Bruce Arians expressing confidence in his young group of tight ends, when John Carlson abruptly announced his retirement from football, it seemed only a matter of time before a veteran would be added.
Gresham (6-5, 260) is a two-time Pro Bowl selection who played in 74 games (67 starts) over the past five seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. A first-round pick (21st overall) by the Bengals out of Oklahoma in the 2010 NFL Draft, Gresham has 280 receptions for 2,722 yards and 24 touchdowns in his career.
