Left tackle D.J. Humphries always knew there was a chance one or more Arizona Cardinals teammates could get the coronavirus. But when he heard the news about Larry Fitzgerald, he was still taken aback.
"In my mind, Larry's invincible," Humphries said. "So if anything happens to him, it's a shocker to me."
The Cardinals placed the veteran wide receiver on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Thursday, after he reportedly tested positive for coronavirus. Wide receiver Trent Sherfield was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday as well, leaving the Cardinals with four wide receivers on the active roster.
Coach Kliff Kingsbury said on Friday that Fitzgerald's case was "a separate deal" from safety Deionte Thompson, who was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Tuesday.
