Former Cardinals quarterback Drew Stanton signing with Browns

Former Cardinals quarterback Drew Stanton has agreed to a two-year contract with the Browns, according to his agent, Mike McCartney.

The Cardinals showed little to no interest in re-signing Stanton, who backed up Carson Palmer the past five years.

Stanton never wowed anyone with passing statistics, but he was effective when replacing Palmer because of injuries. Stanton was 9-4 as a starter with the Cardinals.

Palmer retired at the end of last season, and the Cardinals signed Sam Bradford to replace him. They signed Mike Glennon to replace Stanton as the backup.
